This semester Gertrude and I are celebrating my successful completion of intermediate Greek, Trinitarianism, Christian Education Process, Theological Education in a Cross-Cultural setting, and Missionary Development. It seems that each semester the demands of the Greek courses increase but the in depth study of the Scriptures is most rewarding. The course on Theological Education gives me valuable insights on what's needed for training and teaching in a cross-cultural setting.
My goal is to graduate in May 2008 with a Master of Biblical Studies and a Master of Cross-Cultural Ministries. If you were wondering, I have no immediate thoughts of pursuing a doctoral program. We've decided to return to Papua New Guinea in 2009. Colleagues from Papua New Guinea are already sending us informal invitations to join them in a Bible translation project. We're excited and encouraged as we do so look forward to transitioning back to overseas ministry. Bible exegesis is such a needed component of Bible translation work and I desire to serve in that capacity. Gertrude looks forward to returning to literacy and Scripture Use projects-hopefully in New Ireland Province-but we'll see how the Lord leads.
