Arriving of the Word
The day started with the reenactment of the first missionaries arriving in Simberi. There were of boats carrying a group of men singing hymns.

The Crowd
As the boats were coming to shore there were many people at the beach waiting. -
The Arrival
As the boats arrived on shore they formed a procession with singing and dancing. Part of the procession included a model canoe carrying copies of the Mandara New Testament. -
A New Chief
Steven Hong who has spent over 20 years in Simberi translating the New Testament is initiated to be come one of the chiefs. What a testimony as the people of Simberi to recognize his many years of service there with his family. -
The Procession Continues
The procession continues on to the church. It was a beautiful display of singing and dancing of the Papua New Guinean culture. -
Catholic Priest and SIL Director, Tim Hoff
The Tabar Islands which Simberi is a part of has three denominations present, The Roman Catholic, The United Church and The Seventh Day Adventist. They all joined together for this dedication. -

Here the priest is praying a prayer of dedication of the Simberi New Testament. In the background you can see the boxes of New Testaments that will shortly be going on sale. -
School Children Singing
One of the many groups that took part of the dedication was a group of school children. They sang and read Scripture from the New Testament. -
Koreans singing and dancing
There were over 30 Koreans that traveled from the U.S.A., Korea, Australia and other parts of Papua New Guinea to be a part of the celebration. They shared something from their culture in song and dance.

I am only able to show you a few of the highlights of the celebration. These young ladies dancing with the tambourines was a crowd pleaser. -
The Feast
As with any celebration it would not be complete without a feast. Pictured here are a few of the pigs that was roasted on hot stones wrapped in leaves (a moo-moo). There was also plenty of sweet potatoes and sago. -
Going Home
As many came from far and near to be a part of the celebration. At the end of the day people started home, some by boat and others by plane. We thank the Lord for the safe travel everyone had.
